- What I love about teaching:
- I love the opportunity I have to teach 4th grade this year! It is exciting and I am happy to welcome the challenge. Getting to know the students and what they are passionate about is definitely a fun part of the job.
- Best teacher moment:
- Some of my best teaching moments occur when I am able to pass on any information or skill to a student, and then watch them use that action or information to help improve whatever they are working on. Seeing how a student can use something you taught them is definitely a great feeling!
- Teaching philosophy:
- Whether you think you've mastered a skill or not, we can still get better at something every day. Even though some of the professionals in sports appear to do what they do effortlessly, the ones that stand out are the ones that still work the hardest to improve, though it appears that they don't have to. This is something I loved using during PE as an example and I feel that it can be applied in the classroom, along with a lot of other areas in life.
- What I would like to instill in my students:
- Have a good work ethic, don't take everyday things for granted, be curious, ask questions, work and play hard! It's good to be a "try hard." Anything you work at, work to the best of your ability! The ones who do their best and work hard can inspire others to do the same.
- My story:
- I was a student at Tabernacle, starting in 1st grade in the year 2000 and graduated in 8th grade in 2008. From there, I went to De La Salle High School, where I graduated in 2012. Growing up, I played any sport, but focused more on football, basketball, and baseball, In high school, I loved football and played it all four years, giving me some of the best years of my life. After DLS, finding affordable schools was tough with having a younger brother and sister at DLS and Carondelet, both also went to Tabernacle from K to 8, but I bounced around junior colleges in the Bay Area and San Diego area. I returned to work at Tabernacle every year for the summer and winter breaks, and then finally settled back down in the Bay Area, where I live right near campus in Concord. I started working full time at Tabernacle a few years ago, working as a PE teacher and Daycare Supervisor, and I've also got to coach all of the sports for the school. During the last few years, I earned my degree in business administration through Grand Canyon University, and I was able to do this all online while working full time at Tabernacle.
- Hobbies:
- Outside of work, I stay very active. Being 29 years old, I love being able to still play some of the sports I loved growing up. I work out quite a bit and I play in multiple adult rec league sports that include softball and soccer.
