- What I love about teaching:
- I hope to make a positive impact and be a good influence in students' lives. I want the impact I have on their lives to stay with them throughout their years of schooling and beyond.
- Best teacher moment:
- The best teaching moments are "the light bulb" ones. Knowing that I have helped that student reach his/her potential at that exact moment.
- Teaching philosophy:
- As a Christian teacher, I need to go beyond just teaching academics. I need to know God has called me to the classroom! I should look for Him to guide me in being an example of godly character traits, so that I can have a significant and lasting impact in my students' hearts and lives.
- What I would like to instill in my students:
- I would like to instill in my students the importance of Godly character traits; to renew their minds so they are God-centered rather than self-centered when making choices.
- My story:
- I have never entertained any other career choices for myself, other than to be a teacher. I started teaching in preschools while I was in college. It seems like I kept moving up to teach in older grade levels, as my own children were progressing through school. I really enjoy teaching in the 3rd-5th grade classroom. When I walk out of the classroom at the end of each day, and reflect on some of the highlights from the day, I reminded that it isn't just a job, but a blessing to be making a difference in the life of a child.
- Hobbies:
- I use to tell people that my hobby was "children". I have raised seven of my own, and spend the day with a whole class of children. When I do find some free time, I enjoy reading a good book, and dreaming of traveling someday. I enjoy camping with my family, and spending lots of time with my granddaughters. Not that these are hobbies, but I also enjoy flavored teas, Italian food, and mint chocolate chip ice cream...yum!
