- What I love about teaching:
- Building relationship with the kids and seeing the "lightbulb" moments.
- Best teacher moment:
- I have many of these moments - when former students come back to visit and remind me why we do what we do.
- Teaching philosophy:
- I spend time having fun and getting to know the kids because when they know that I care and know them for who they are, the academics will happen.
- What I would like to instill in my students:
- Use all your time to the best of your advantage. When you schedule things properly throughout the rest of your education, you will have more time for all the fun stuff!
- My story:
- I graduated high school and became an intern at the church. While interning, I helped in a classroom here on campus. I went away to college with the intention of becoming a youth pastor. As I sat in my licensing interview, I was asked why I wanted to be a pastor. I looked at the interview panel and responded that I actually wanted to be a teacher. It wasn't until that moment that I realized I had been going back to the times I spent in the classroom and saw the true value of Christian education. The five days a week, pouring into kids and spending time with them would make more of an impact than one service, once a week and I truly felt that was my calling!
- Hobbies:
- Reading, drinking coffee and spending quality time with my family (normally watching dance or baseball)
