- What I love about teaching:
- I love watching students achieve that "Ah-ha moment," when everything clicks and learning becomes fun!
- Best teacher moment:
- Connecting with a group of challenging 6th graders my first year out of college. I was so proud of the connection I had made with those students.
- Teaching philosophy:
- I believe that a relationship comes first, and the learning follows. Students are more eager and willing to learn when they have a relationship with their teacher. I'm firm in my expectations, but always fair.
- What I would like to instill in my students:
- I my goal in teaching is to instill a love of learning in my students, that God loves them, and that when they put in hard work; anything is possible.
- My story:
- I grew up in North Carolina and spent my teen years in Virginia. After graduating high school I moved to California where I received my BA in Liberal Studies with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from CSU East Bay. I met my husband while I was in college, and we were married in 2010. I was teaching 1st grade when I got pregnant with our daughter. After she was born in 2012; I felt called to be a full time stay at home mom. We welcomed our son in 2017, and this is my first year back to teaching in ten years. I'm so excited to be back, and I look forward to developing relationships with my students.
- Hobbies:
- My kids are very involved in a different variety of spots, we enjoy summers and winters in Lake Tahoe, traveling, hiking, and being together as much as possible.
